The mobile app

Sign in to the Boathouse Connect mobile app with your normal account, get chat push notifications, and know when to use the web app instead.

Who this is for: athletes and other members who want Boathouse Connect on their phone. Permission required: none.

Boathouse Connect has a mobile app for athletes on iOS and Android, alongside the web app at boathouseconnect.com. The mobile app is included with the Standard and Professional plans (see /home/pricing); if your club is on the Small Teams plan, use the web app in your phone's browser.

Install and sign in

  1. Install the Boathouse Connect app from the App Store (iPhone) or Google Play (Android).
  2. Sign in with the same email address and password you use on the web. There is no separate mobile account and no club login — you sign in as yourself.

If you do not have an account yet, register on the web first — see the New member guide. If you cannot sign in, see Signing in.

Each phone you sign in on appears under My Profile → API Keys in the web app as an iOS app token or Android app token. Deleting one there stops that phone from using your account until you sign in again.

Push notifications

The mobile app can send push notifications to your phone. When you allow notifications, the app registers your phone with Boathouse Connect so messages can reach it. Each phone is registered separately, so you can be notified on more than one device.

Notification When you get it What it shows
Chat message Someone posts in a chat you are part of and you have not read it yet The chat's name as the title, then the sender's name and message

Tapping a chat notification opens that chat in the app. To stop push notifications, turn them off for Boathouse Connect in your phone's notification settings.

Email notifications are controlled separately, in the web app under My Profile → Preferences, where you opt in or out of each type of email. See My Profile, Preferences & Notifications.

Phone or web app?

The mobile app is built for athletes. Everything in these guides is described in the web app, which is where administrators set up the club: Org Settings, Groups → Permissions, Finances settings and the rest. If you cannot find something in the mobile app, open boathouseconnect.com in your phone's browser and sign in there.

Your club's chats are shared between the app and the web, so a conversation you start on your phone is also under Communications → Chat in the web app. See Chat.

Signing out a lost phone

If a phone is lost or you sell it:

  1. Sign in to the web app and go to My Profile → API Keys.
  2. Click the iOS app token or Android app token for that phone. Use Created At and Last Used to tell phones apart.
  3. Click Delete Token.

Consider changing your password as well.

FAQ

Do I need a different password for the app? No. Use the email address and password you use on the web. If you reset your password, use the new one in the app too.

I am not getting chat notifications. Check that notifications are allowed for Boathouse Connect in your phone's settings, and that you are signed in to the app on that phone. Notifications only go to chat members who have not yet read the chat.

Can I use the app for more than one club? Yes. Your one account works for every organization you belong to.

My club is on Small Teams. Can I still use my phone? The pricing page lists the mobile app as a Standard and Professional feature. You can always open the web app in your phone's browser.

Which notifications does the app send besides chat? Chat messages are the only push notifications described here. Emails such as upcoming practice lineups or upcoming charges are sent according to your choices under My Profile → Preferences.
